Excel Being “Helpful”
Try this: Launch Microsoft Excel 2000. Enter a few letters, each into its own cell:
In case of the letter “i”, when you hit Enter, Excel changes it to a capital letter:
Why does Excel do this? We don’t know. When you go back to the cell and enter “i”, Excel will change it to “I” again. I guess Excel simply knows better what’s good for you. And you have to admit, capital letters are much better that small letters. But only in the case of “i”, that is. For other letters, Excel lets you get away with small letters.
