The Third Man

Sunday, December 19th, 2004

I just saw “The Third Man” on video. Ebisu station on the Yamanote line is what inspired me to watch this great classic movie again. How so? For some reason, that station plays the zither theme from the film every time a train departs. I find that choice even stranger after seeing this dark and gloomy movie again.

For your reference, this page has all the melodies of all stations on the Yamanote line.

Useless RSS Feeds at developerWorks

Wednesday, December 15th, 2004

IBM’s developerWorks RSS feeds get updated once a week, even though new articles appear on the site almost daily. From their web site:

These XML-based files, updated each week, help you stay up-to-date with dW’s most recently published articles, tutorials, and resources. Our RSS feeds also let you easily add always-current developerWorks headlines to your Web site.

Interesting how they use “updated each week” and “always-current” in the same paragraph.
